A B S T R A C T This sensor, which is of the oxygen pump type, makes it possible to generate an electric signal representative of the oxygen content of a gas, linearly dependent on this oxygen content, made of a solid electrolyte plate , one of whose faces is partly covered by a ca- thode impervious to oxygen to be brought into the presence of the said gas, and whose other face is covered by an anode to be brought into the presence of a reference gas. Under the effect of the difference in potential prevailing between the two electrodes , there appears at the surface of the solid electrolyte an area in which the molecular oxygen contained in the said gas is trans- formed into negative ions. The electrons captured by the oxygen dur- ing this transformation produce the said electric signal.
