ABSTRACT The grinding device displays a frame (2) with three pairs of supporting members (61, 62, 63) arranged in the shape of a star which rest by means of feet (81, 82) on a supporting base, i.e. cylinders (Z1, Z2, Z3), and can be moved. A belt grinder (24) is attached to the frame (2) and contains a bracket (26) which can swivel and which carries a pillow block (28) for a contact wheel (30). Between the pillow block (28) and the supporting base (Z1, Z2, Z3) there is a supportingdevice (38) which contains a guide rule (42) in order to guide the contact wheelprecisely. The present grinding installation can be used between cylinders (Z1, Z2, Z3) situated close together, whereby the frame (2) is supported by the cylinders (Z1, Z2, Z3) so that it is possible to grind such cylinders very easily and without dismantling them.
