ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A device for handling and protecting canisters for radioactive materials is described. These canisters are encom- passed by a sheath protected against corrosion and sensitive to shock. For this purpose the lower and upper regions of the canisters have rims and are encompassed by protecting guard caps. Said caps are detachably connected to each other by lifting bars via a lifting plate.
