A device for hanging an aircraft engine to a mast includes a main hanging structure (18.24), normally capable of transmitting forces to the mast exerted in two directions (X ', Y'), one of which is mainly parallel to the longitudinal axis (OX) of the engine and the other mainly perpendicular to this axis and based on a median plane common to the engine and the mast. The device also includes a standby attachment structure essentially consisting in an element (10) attached to the mast and that is also part of the main hanging structure. The element (10), preferably constructed in two parts (10a, 10b) joined together, includes a pawn (42) which enters with clearance in a recess formed on a casing of the engine.
