L'appareil sert à identifier un fil ou câble à l'aide d'un amplificateur inductif vocal afin de retrouver ce câble à l'autre extrémité. Dans la présente invention, l'appareil génère un signal vocal répétitif par induction et le niveau du signal à émettre est ajustable par l'utilisateur sans distorsion. L'appareil permet d'enregistrer de façon immédiate la voix de son utilisateur dans des mémoires mortes programmables et effaçables, de répéter indéfiniment ce message de façon inductive et non synthétisée. L'appareil est également muni d'un témoin d'opération permettant ainsi de visualiser son fonctionnement de même qu'un témoin de ligne afin de visualiser si un signal est déjà présent sur le câble à identifier.
