ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE The present invention provides for a better utilization of the residual heat contained in a flue gas of a central hot water heating system. This is achieved by means of a valve, which, as a function of the outlet temperature of the flue gas, can switch on or off at least a part of the heat exchanger of the system. This valve is controlled by a temperature feeler gauge installed in the flue-gas pipe of the system. The feeler gauge acts as a control element itself or it controls the position of the valve by way of a servomotor when the outlet temperature of the heating gas reaches the value only slightly above the predetermined value.
