In a device for inflating/deflating straps of back-carried objects such as school satchels, rucksacks or the like, an inflatable pad is incorporated into the strap(s) and controlled by means located outside the straps. This device is characterised in that the inflating/deflating device (1) is integrated into a single piece (5) through which the strap secured to the satchel extends and which regulates the length of the strap. The plate-shaped single piece (5) is shaped and arranged to position and protect the strap inflating/deflating device and to join it to one end (3b) of the strap so that inflating air may enter the pad integrated into the strap.
