A B S T R A C T A device for limiting the length of rows of shopping carts provided with coin deposit systems involves at least two control and blocking levers which are rotatably seated in vertical pivot shafts and are horizontally pivotable. The levers are coupled to each other so that at least the lever which is first moved in an insertion direction always remains in a blocking condition as long as a shopping cart is in the control area between the control and blocking levers. The levers are disposed in rails that define the rows of carts as, for example, in the parking lot of a supermarket.
