ABSTRACT A device for loading particles into a zone and distributing said particles, at substantially the same rate, uniformly across the bed area of said zone, the device comprising, in combination: an elongated feed hopper in open communication at its lower end, with said zone, having disposed therein; a coaxially-disposed, ring-shaped sleeve movable connected to the interior wall of said hopper, the lower end of said sleeve terminating in a throttle valve; a coaxially-disposed shaft rotatably connected to the upper end of said sleeve and extending through the center space thereof and through the end of said hopper into the upper portion of said zone; and, a particle-dispersion wheel attached to the lower end of said shaft.
