Abstract of the Disclosure The position of the movable component in linear displacement is located among N positions such as ten positions by means of n transducers which may be four in number, for example, and are aligned in a direction parallel to the displacement of the movable component. The trans- ducers are activated by crests carried by the movable component and, in respect of each position to be located, supply a 4-bit coded information which is representative of the position considered. -1-
