The invention relates to a device for lumbar support for an office chair having a seatback, which consists of seatback frame with a membrane stretched over it, the device being arranged behind the membrane (2) and housed in the seatback frame (1) independently from the membrane (2). It can be arranged with height adjustment and also be horizontally extendible. Preferably, the device of the present invention consists of a central part having two comparably rigid carrier elements (4), which are connected to each other via an elastic element (5) arranged in the center and which on the outside each have lateral guide frames (6); the guide frames (6) are arranged in the seatback frame (1) with sliding adjustment, a cushion (8) attached to an upholstery plate (9) as a front part arranged facing the membrane (2), and a plastic plate (10) as a rear part, the cushion (8) and the plastic plate (10) being connected via a clip connection (11) and the clip connection (11) being guided in tracks (12) of the carrier elements (4).
