ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A machining tool for a moving thermoplastic body, having an elongated flattened knife-like shape, formed of metal having a good thermal conductivity, and heated by in- direct heating means, and adjustable mounting means for move- ably positioning such tool relative to the moving plastic body. In one form the machining tool has a special shape bent in two places at right angles to provide upper and lower vertical portions offset from each other, and a horizontal intermediate portion, so as to form a lengthwise ridge or notch in the plastic body. Preferably the heating means consists of an electrical heating element at one end of the machining tool.
