ABSTRACT A fall device with a cam having two active contours, a countercam and a small pole are used to manufacture knitted bags by means of a circular machine for tubular knitwear moving with unidirectional motion. The machine is provided with an additional thread guide which rotates concentrically with the needles cylin- der so as to feed twice, once in motion and once at rest, needles required to form a knitted bag. The fall device rotates around the needles cylinder in such a way that, at every turn, it stops at a first position corresponding to a first area of stitch forma- tion in order to allow one contour of the cam to trigger, at rest, a first fall of needles in order to have a first partial row of stitches. Then, it accelerates up to a second position and from there it continues up to a third position at constant speed, but greater than the speed of the cylinder in order to pass said needles and to allow the small pole to raise them from a level where they are held back to a level where they are dropped. More- over, this allows the other contour of the cam to trigger, in motion, a second fall of the needles in order to form a second partial row of stitches. Finally, from the third position it begins to slow down until it reaches the initial position where, after a turn by 360°, it stops.
