- 9 - DEVICE FOR MONITORING CONSUMPTION OF ELECTRICAL POWER Abstract of the Disclosure A device to enable a user to conveniently determine the amount of electrical power being consumed by appliances at any given time is disclosed. A sensing unit is applied externally to the main power supply cable without penetration of the cable sheath and without direct connection with the cable conductors. An induction type or Hall effect sensor unit may be employed. A meter indicating power consumption is installed at a convenient location remote from the sensor unit and is wired to the sensor unit.
