TITLE OF THE INVENTION: DEVICE FOR MONITORING OF CORROSION ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A device for the monitoring of corrosion, for example, of heat exchanger tubes, consisting of one or several test tubes which are attached at an easily accessible point. These test tubes are made of the same material as the heat exchanger tubes to be measured. The corroding medium, in general cooling water, flows through the test tubes with the same speed and with the same pressure drop as in the heat exchanger tubes. The device according to the invention permits the monitoring of the corrosion with different measuring methods. For the purpose of monitoring localized corrosion, a reference electrode and a millivoltmeter are attached to the test tube, if only one is used, whereby the corrosion potential is measured in the test tube which is identical with the potential in the heat exchanger tubes. For the monitoring of corrosion-caused reductions in the cross-sections thereof, the electrical resistance of the test tube is measured. The monitoring of the corrosion-caused surface removal is based on the measuring of the polarization resistance.
