- 9 - ABSTRACT DEVICE FOR MOUNTING FELTS AND FABRICS IN PAPERMAKING AND LIKE MACHINE A gripper device is proposed for engagement with the edge (21) of a papermakers felt or fabric (22) to facilitate the handling of said felt or fabric in loading the same onto a machine. The device comprises a gripper body (13) providing a slot (19) to receive the fabric edge (21), there being a roller (17) within the body which is movable in contact with an inclined surface (15) into clamping engagement with a fabric in the slot on movement of the device outwardly of the fabric edge, and a handle (12) extending outwardly from the gripper body and generally in the plane of the slot (19). (Fig. 2).
