In a separator (11), designed to separate mixtures composed of liquids of various densities, the inflow (12) of the liquid mixture is so arranged and so designed that the inflowing liquid mixture hits an inner wall(16), located opposite the separator outflows, at an angle .alpha. of 0~ - 45~ relative to the normal to the container wall. Such a separator can be used in the manufacturing process for acrylic acid through catalytic vapour-phase oxidation of propene.

Dans un séparateur (11) destiné à la séparation de mélanges composés de liquides de différentes densités, l'entrée (12) par laquelle passe le mélange liquide est disposée et conçue de façon que le mélange liquide entrant frappe une paroi intérieure (16), placée à l'opposé de la sortie du séparateur, à un angle alpha de 0 DEG -45 DEG par rapport à la normale à la paroi du récipient. Un tel séparateur peut être utilisé dans un procédé de production d'acide acrylique par oxydation en phase vapeur catalytique de propène.
