ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A device for the preparation of uranium tetrafluoride which comprises two vertical concentric tubes of material which affords resistance to heat and to corrosion by HF and/or H2O; the tubes are so arranged as to delimit an annular zone, constituting a reaction zone, and a central zone; means for continuously feeding uranium oxide at the upper part of the annular zone are provided together with means for feeding gaseous hydrofluoric acid at the lower part of the annular zone; also provided are means for feeding liquid hydrofluoric acid in the central zone and means for transferring the hydro- fluoric acid vapors obtained in the central zone into the annular zone so that the vapors pass upwardly therethrough in counterflow to the uranium oxide.
