ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE The invention provides an apparatus for processing round lumber sections having a limited, but substantially identical length into cut lumber, comprising a processing tool, a first feeding and guiding means arranged in front of the processing tool for the rectilinear guiding of a clamping means for a round lumber section, and a second feeding and guiding means for the processed round lumber section provided behind the pro- cessing tool, wherein the clamping means on the first feeding and guiding means comprises two coaxially successively arranged clamping irons, of which one located more closely to the pro- cessing tool in the feeding path can be moved into close proxi- mity with the same and then opened, while the other said clamp- ing iron is initially located equidistant from the first-mentioned clamping iron and is displaceable so that it can subsequently be moved close to the same and wherein the second feeding and guiding means comprises a stationary guide means spaced from a terminal position of the first-mentioned clamping iron by a distance which is less than the distance between said first- mentioned clamping iron in its initial position and said clamp- ing tool, and wherein a further feeding means is provided which is spaced from a terminal position of a said clamping iron which is provided with a feeding drive by a distance which is less than the distance between the initial position of this clamping iron and said processing tool.
