ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE The disclosure describes a device which comprises a rake arm fastener which can slide vertically along the bow of the ship or the like. There are provided a pair of rake arms, each being attached at the inner end thereof to the rake arm fastener, the rake arms extending substantially horizontally on both sides of the rake arm fastener. A pair of extendable support arms have their inner ends respectively mounted on the port and starboard shoulders of the ship. The outer ends of the support arms are connected to respective outer ends of the rake arms. Each rake arm is provided with a plurality of vertically mounted prongs, and a hoist is provided to cause raising or lowering of the rake arms while simultaneously vertically sliding the rake arm fastener. In this manner, the prongs can be moved and held between a raised position above the water- line and a lowered position below the water-line.
