ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A device for refining fibrous material in the form of chips, comprising two contra-rotating refining discs, one of which is provided with openings located close to its centre for feeding the chips to the space between the refining discs, and a feed funnel for guiding the chips to said openings, characterized in that directly in front of said openings in the refining disc a radial disc sleeve is located which is rotatable with the shaft of the refining disc and is provided with radial arms having inclined flanks directed to the openings in the refining disc to throw the chips with high speed into said openings. The main advantage of this arrangement is that a uniform flow of chips can be maintained.
