ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A package processing apparatus includes a device for removing empty packages from the radial mandrels of a mandrel wheel as the mandrels are in- dexed in succession to a stripping station. Bridging supporting surfaces are arranged between the mandrels on the end-face of the mandrel wheel, the support- ing surfaces being located in the plane of the adjacent lateral surfaces of the mandrels to support a radially mobile stripper. The stripper bears against the lateral surfaces of the mandrels, or while the mandrel wheel is indexing bear against the said supporting surfaces.
