A device for feeding printing plates onto the plate cylinder of printing machines, in which this cylin- der includes, in a groove, a fastening device associated with the start of printing and which includes, for housing a head edge of the plate, a gripping zone which is to be opened and has the shape of a gap extending over the width of the format. A pivoting support (103, 109) is, on the one hand, capable of withdrawing a first printing plate (111) positioned on the plate cylinder (101) and, on the other hand, is capable of bringing a second printing plate (112) onto this cylinder. Application, in particular, to rotary offset printing machines.
