A B S T R A C T The invention relates to a device for replacing printing plates in rotary printing presses, particularly in web-fed rotary printing presses for printing on both sides of a material web, said printing presses having at least one respective printing unit which comprises a cylinder having clamping means within a cylinder gap thereof for clamping the ends of a printing plate wound around the surface of the cylinder, said plate cylinder (1) being associated with a removal device (6) for removing the printing plates (A) released from the plate cylinder as well as with an infeed device (5) for new printing plates B to be fastened on the plate cylinder. The invention is characterized in that with the plate cylinder (1) of a lower printing unit there are associated pivotable holding and feed means (50, 51, 52) for the new printing plates B to be fed as well as pivotable holding means (55, 56) for the printing plates A to be removed from the plate cylinder (1), said feed means and said holding means supporting the printing plates A and B in their essentially hanging position.
