A device for sealing a lance (12) in an opening in a container under pressure, in particular a shaft furnace, is described. The device comprises a first casing (46) with an end wall on the shaft furnace side and on the environment side, which are each provided axially with an opening for a lance (12), and a sealing element (14), which is arranged in the first casing (46). The sealing element (14) comprises at least one packing (50) and at least one axially movable annular piston (52), which are arranged coaxially with an axis (24) of the device, the packing (50) being arranged between the piston (52) and one of the end walls of the first casing (46) in the actuating direction of the piston (52). The packing (50) is pressed axially against one of the end walls of the casing (46) by actuation of the piston (52), the packing (50) extending radially and being laidaround the lance (12) to form a seal.
La présente invention concerne un dispositif d'étanchement d'une lance (12) dans une ouverture à travers laquelle ladite lance peut être introduite dans un récipient pressurisé, notamment dans un four à cuve. Le dispositif comprend un premier carter (46), dont l'une des parois d'extrémité et l'une des parois du pourtour sont dotées dans le sens axial d'une ouverture passante (12), et un organe d'étanchement (14) monté dans un premier carter (46). Cet organe (4) comprend au moins un joint (50) et au moins un piston annulaire (52) mobile dans le sens axial et placé en position coaxiale par rapport à l'axe longitudinal (24) du dispositif, le joint d'étanchéité (50) étant situé entre le piston (52) et l'une des parois d'extrémité du premier carter (46) dans le sens de mouvement du piston (52). La mise en action du piston (52) a pour effet de presser le joint d'étanchéité (50) axialement contre l'une des parois d'extrémité du carter (46), d'en provoquer ainsi une dilatation radiale, de sorte que le joint (50) forme une garniture d'étanchéité autour de la lance (12).
