An internal catheter has a flexible plastic inner tube with an integrally formed protruding head with an axial channel. The internal catheter extends through an axial channel in an exterior catheter. With the internal catheter head withdrawn within the foam or spiral tip of the exterior catheter, the assembly is advanced into a sow cervix, and the internal catheter is then advanced through the tip of the catheter and remaining portion of the cervix and into the uterine body and possible into a uterine born. Semen or embryos are then introduced through the axial cavity. The tip of the exterior catheter may have a protective flap which is not penetrated until the inner tube is advanced therethrough. The internal catheter axial channel may have a constricted portion within the head, to engage a semen or embryo containing straw.

Un cathéter interne comprend un tube intérieur en plastique souple doté d'une tête saillante formée monobloc traversée par un passage axial. Le cathéter interne s'étend dans un passage axial formé dans un cathéter externe. Lorsque la tête du cathéter interne est tirée à l'intérieur de l'extrémité en mousse ou en spirale du cathéter externe, l'ensemble est avancé à l'intérieur du col utérin d'une truie puis le cathéter interne est avancé par l'extrémité du cathéter et la partie restante du col et à l'intérieur du corps de l'utérus et éventuellement à l'intérieur d'une corne utérine. La semence ou les embryons sont ensuite introduits par la cavité axiale. L'extrémité du cathéter externe peut comporter un rabat de protection qui n'est pas traversé jusqu'à ce que le tube intérieur soit avancé dans ce dernier. Le passage axial du cathéter interne peut comprendre une partie réduite prévue dans la tête, qui sert à retenir une paille contenant de la semence ou un/des embryons.
