ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A device for testing the mouth profile of glass or similar vessels by testing for the leakage around the mouth of gas injected into the bottle is improved by using a spring-shift sealing member on the test head to prevent imperfections being masked by the sealing member adapting to them, and a subassembly of the head carrying the sealing member is permitted a controlled amount of pivotal motion to allow it to adapt to vessel mouths having only a permissible tilt whilst detecting those having excessive tilt.
