ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A device for the electrokinetic desalination of masonry, comprises at least one positive salt-collecting electrode disposed on or in the masonry in contact with a buffer material that immobilizes ions and at least one negative electrode to which a direct current is applied. There is disposed an anode with an electrode that is in contact with a buffer material for use in said device. Apart from the connected ends, the positive electrode is completely encompassed by a layer of the buffer material, a separating layer resting against the layer of buffer material.
