The invention concerns a device for the high-energy and/or superfine grinding of solids. The grinding device comprises a container 35 configured like a grinding chamber 34 having a filling of loose grinding elements and a rotor 10 equipped with agitator elements 11 which can be rotary-driven relative to said container about a shaft 19 having a horizontal axis, for inducing an intensive movement of the grinding elements within the grind element filling. For the purpose of grinding especially problematic material, e.g. material that tends to stick, the grinding device is improved such that the rotor 10 is connected with a first main drive 17 and the grind container 35 or its bearing housing 1 is connected to a second rotary drive 5, which can be controlled independent of one another.
