A B S T R A C T Device for the movement of a shaft furnace probe The probe (10) is introduced transversaly into the furnace through a support block (14) and a sealing packing (16). In order to reduce the influence of distorsions on the packing and support elements there is provided a carriage (34) sliding along the frame (18) and provided with at least one stirrup (50) mounted on the frame (18) in such a manner as to be pivotable about a horizontal axis (58) at right angles to the direction of movement of the carriage (34), said stirrup (50) having means for gripping the probe (10) and driving it in the probe insertion direction when the carriage (34) is moved in the direction of the furnace.
