The invention relates to a device for the treatment of fluids, especially for the treatment of waste water. The fluid is guided along a surface (3) to which a biological material adheres. A stripping element (5) sweeps across the surface (3) in such a way that only strips and not the entire surface is covered. The strips are selected in such a manner that the element sweeps over one section after the other of the coated surface (3).
