A B S T R A C T An egg handling machine having one and preferably two or more egg feeding chains, first retaining members to which the eggs are transferred from the chains and which are each provided with a gripper to positively hold an egg and rotate it to orient its axis vertical and second retaining members moving in a line or preferably two or more lines vertically aligned with the first ones for each receiving an egg from one first retaining member.
