A B S T R A C T device for uniformly distributing the molten metal during vertical continuous casting in an electromagnetic mold features a float which is permanently connected via a plu- rality of struts to a distributor dish which is completely immersed in the melt and has an impacting region and slightly inclined sidewalls. The distributor dish forms together with the lower edge of the float a slit which extends over the whole of the base of the device and is for introducing the molten metal to the head of the ingot being cast. The device is secured to a supporting facility which centres the distributor dish permamently in the hori- zontal plane under the downspout nozzle and ensures free movement of the float and distributor dish in the vertical direction above a certain predetermined minimum level. The device also features equipment for finely adjusting the height of the trough and the lowest level of the distri- butor dish relative to the position of the electromagnetic mold. - 1 -
