Abstract The present invention concerns a device, especially an idler roller for carrying a conveyor belt, comprising a member having an end face and mounted for rotation on a spindle, journalled in a bearing located behind the end face, the spindle projecting through the end face which latter includes a flange projecting therefrom adjacent to and extending around the spindle. The flange may be integral with the face and a seal may be provided between the spindle and the flange. The presence of the flange diverts dirt from the face away from the spindle where it projects through the end face reducing the amount of dirt which reaches the bearing thus prolonging the life of the bearing.
