A B S T R A C T The present invention refers to a piano action including means for controlling the movement of a damper and for relating this movement to the movement of a hammer on a hammer arm affecting a string, wherein the damper is attached to a damper arm journalled on an axis. A damper lifter directly connects one point on the hammer arm close to the end remote from the hammer with a point on the damper arm located on the opposite side of said axis in relation to the damper. The damper lifter is preferably formed from a resilient material.
