ABSTRACT: The invention relates to a device provided with a low-pressure sodium vapour discharge lamp and with a current stabilizing ballast element connected in series therewith. According to the invention the lamp is operated by means of a non-sinusoidal current, care having been taken that the temperature of the wall of the discharge tube is maintained in an accurately defined interval. This results in a relatively high luminous efficacy. Figure 1. - 15 -
