The transmitter (56) for transmitting a sequence of octets over a digital network which digital network converts the octets into a sequence of levels, the transmitter including: mapping device (74) outputting for each group of data bits an equivalence class of one or more levels; a level selector (76), for selecting the level in the equivalence class to represent the group of data bits to be transmitted; a filter device (78), which receives at its input previously selected levels and provides its output to the level selector, wherein the level selector (76) selects the level to be transmitted based on the output of the filter device (78); and an octet converter (80), which receives the selected level at its input and transmits over the digital network an octet corresponding to the selected level to produce the analog signal having the predefined spectral shape when the transmitted octets are converted to levels in the digital network.
Emetteur (56) pour émettre une séquence d'octets, dans un réseau numérique. Ce réseau convertit les octets en une séquence de niveaux. L'émetteur comprend: un dispositif de recherche de correspondance (74) qui produit pour chaque groupe de bits utiles une classe d'équivalence d'un ou de plusieurs niveaux; un sélecteur de niveau (76) pour sélectionner dans la classe d'équivalence le niveau qui représentera le groupe de bits utiles devant être émis; un dispositif filtre (78) qui reçoit à l'entrée les niveaux sélectionnés précédemment et adresse sa sortie au sélecteur de niveaux, lequel (76) sélectionne le niveau (76) d'émission en fonction de la sortie du dispositif filtre (78); et un convertisseur d'octets (80) qui reçoit le niveau sélectionné à l'entrée et transmet sur le réseau numérique un octet correspondant au niveau sélectionné de façon à produire le signal analogique qui a la forme spectrale prédéfinie lorsque les octets transmis sont convertis en niveaux dans le réseau numérique.
