ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE The invention provides an apparatus for assisting a person in the swinging of a skipping rope, which skipping rope, in use, is ordinarily swung about a horizontal axis by the person holding one end of the rope. The apparatus typically includes a support base adapted to be releasably attached to a support surface, such as a post. An arm is rotatably mounted to the support base for free wheeling rotation relative thereto about a rotation axis. A securement device on the arm spaced from the rotation axis Serves to secure the other end of the rope to the arm. The arm is unbalanced about the rotation axis and has a mass and dimensions such that, within the normal rates at which the rope is swung, the arm rotates in harmony with the swinging rope to thereby assist the person manipulating the opposite end of the rope in providing a smooth and consistent skip rope swinging action.
