A device for performing one or more functions in a gastrointestinal tract of a patient includes an anchoring member and at least one actuator, sensor, or combination of both coupled with the anchoring device. The anchoring device is adapted to maintain at least part of the device within a pyloric portion of the patient's stomach and to intermittently engage, without directly attaching to, stomach tissue. Actuators perform any suitable function, such as transmitting energy to tissue, acting as a sleeve to reduce nutrient absorption, occupying space in the stomach, eluting a drug and/or the like. Sensors may be adapted to sense any suitable patient characteristic within the patient's gastrointestinal tract, such as pH, temperature, bile content, nutrient content, fats, sugars, alcohol, opiates, drugs, analytes, electrolytes and/or hemoglobin.
La présente invention a trait à un dispositif permettant la réalisation d'une ou de plusieurs fonctions dans le tractus gastro-intestinal d'un patient comportant un organe d'ancrage et au moins un actionneur, capteur, ou une combinaison des deux couplés au dispositif d'ancrage. Le dispositif d'ancrage est adapté au maintien d'au moins une partie du dispositif dans une portion pylorique de l'estomac du patient et à l'engagement sporadique, sans attache directe, au tissu de l'estomac. Des actionneurs réalisent toute fonction appropriée, telle que la transmission d'énergie au tissu, sous la forme d'un manchon pour réduire l'absorption de nutriments, l'occupation d'espace dans l'estomac, l'élution d'un médicament et/ou analogues. Des capteurs peuvent être adaptés pour la détection de toute caractéristique appropriée de patient dans le tractus gastro-intestinal du patient, telle que le pH, la température, la teneur en bile, la teneur en nutriments, les matières grasses, les sucres, l'alcool, des opiacés, des médicaments, des analytes, des électrolytes et/ou l'hémoglobine.
