A cartridge (22) for delivering an intraocular lens into the eye of a subject that comprises a body disposed along a longitudinal axis having a distal end and a proximal end, and a tapered lumen disposed along the longitudinal axis having an aperture at the distal end of the body. The aperture and at least a portion of the tapered lumen each consist of an upper portion and a lower portion. The upper portions of the aperture and lumen each have a first width and a cross-section that is generally arcuate. The lower portions of the aperture and lumen each have a cross-section that is generally horizontally disposed and have a second width that is greater than the first width of the aperture and lumen. The cartridge may be loaded with an intraocular lens using a packaging system. The intraocular lens may be placed into the eye of a subject using a corresponding inserter (160) having a pushrod (164) with a saddle disposed at the tip thereof. The intraocular lens is preferably draped over the saddle during insertion.
L'invention concerne une cartouche (22) destinée à la mise en place d'une lentille intraoculaire dans l'oeil d'un sujet et comprenant un corps disposé le long d'un axe longitudinal et possédant une extrémité distale et une extrémité proximale, ainsi qu'une lumière effilée disposée le long de l'axe longitudinal et comportant une ouverture au niveau de l'extrémité distale du corps. L'ouverture et une partie au moins de la lumière effilée comprennent chacune une partie supérieure et une partie inférieure. Les parties supérieures de l'ouverture et de la lumière présentent chacune une première largeur et une section transversale généralement arquée. Les parties inférieures de l'ouverture et de la lumière possèdent chacune une section transversale disposée de manière généralement horizontale, et présentent une second largeur supérieure à la première largeur de l'ouverture et de la lumière. Une lentille intraoculaire peut être chargée dans cette cartouche au moyen d'un système de conditionnement. La lentille intraoculaire peut être placée dans l'oeil d'un sujet au moyen d'un dispositif d'insertion (160) correspondant comprenant une tige de poussée (164) pourvue d'une selle disposée au niveau de sa pointe. La lentille intraoculaire recouvre de préférence la selle pendant une insertion.
