The present invention is directed toward devices (12,32,300) configured to perform an adaptive method for initiating the charging and delivering therapy to treat patients experiencing recurrent non-sustained arrhythmic events. The adaptive methods may modify threshold used to test the persistence of an arrhythmia prior to initiating the charging sequence to deliver therapy.
