Devices, systems, and methods employ an implant that is sized and configured to attach to the annulus of a dysfunctional heart valve annulus. In use, the implant (10) extends across the major axis of the annulus above and/or along the valve annulus. The implant reshapes the major axis dimension and/or other surrounding anatomic structures. The implant restores to the heart valve annulus and leaflets a more functional anatomic shape and tension. The more functional anatomic shape and tension are conducive to coaptation of the leaflets, which, in turn, reduces retrograde flow or regurgitation. The implant improves function to the valve, without surgically cinching, resecting, and/or fixing in position large portions of a dilated annulus, or without the surgical fixation of ring-like structures.
La présente invention concerne des dispositifs, des systèmes et des procédés qui font intervenir l'utilisation d'un implant dont la taille et la conception lui permettent de se fixer à l'anneau défaillant d'une valvule cardiaque. En cours d'utilisation, l'implant s'étend à travers l'axe majeur de l'anneau, au-dessus et/ou le long de l'anneau de la valvule. L'implant réalise un remodelage de la dimension de l'axe majeur et/ou d'autres structures anatomiques environnantes. L'implant redonne à l'anneau et aux feuillets de valvule cardiaque une forme anatomique et une tension plus fonctionnelles. La forme anatomique et la tension plus fonctionnelles conduisent à une coadaptation des feuillets, permettant ainsi de réduire le flux rétrograde ou la régurgitation. L'implant permet d'améliorer le fonctionnement de la valvule sans nécessiter d'opération chirurgicale d'ancrage, de résection et/ou de fixation en position de parties importantes d'un anneau dilaté, ou sans fixation chirurgicale des structures annulaires.
