A B S T R A C T After a metal finishing treatment by means of an aqueous solution that forms a surface of free metal, or comprising metal ions, exposed to the environment, the surface is rinsed, contacted with a soap solution and subjected to a final rinse. The treatment provides enhanced corrosion resistance and rapid spontaneous de-watering after the final rinse.
