A process of dewatering aqueous suspension employing a flocculating system comprising treating the suspension with a flocculating amount of a first flocculant and a dewatering amount of a second flocculant, and subjecting the suspension to mechanical dewatering to form a cake, wherein the first flocculant brings about flocculation and assists thickening of the suspension and the second flocculant is a water-soluble or water swellable polymer that is mixed into the suspension is a water-soluble or water swellable particulate polymer having a particle diameter of at least 20 microns.
La présente invention concerne un processus de déshydratation d'une suspension aqueuse dans lequel on utilise un système de floculation. Ce processus consiste à traiter la suspension avec une quantité d'un premier floculant suffisante pour assurer la floculation et une quantité d'un deuxième floculant suffisante pour assurer la déshydratation, puis à soumettre la suspension à une déshydratation mécanique pour former un gâteau, ledit premier floculant induisant la floculation et facilitant l'épaississement de la suspension alors que le deuxième floculant déshydrate plus fortement la suspension, cette invention se caractérisant en ce que le deuxième floculant est un polymère soluble dans l'eau ou gonflant dans l'eau qui est mélangé dans la suspension sous forme d'un polymère particulaire soluble dans l'eau ou gonflant dans l'eau d'un diamètre particulaire au moins égal à 20 microns.
