ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A method is disclosed whereby dewaxing aids used to improved the separability of wax from hydrocarbon oils, preferably petroleum oil most preferably lube or transformer oils are themselves recovered from the wax and/or the dewaxed oil by means of the selective per- meation of the wax/dewaxed oil/dewaxing solvent through a semipermeable membrane with the retained, recovered de- waxing aid being recycled to the dewaxing process. The dewaxing aid is recovered in an undegraded form, and is as effective in the dewaxing process as is fresh dewaxing aid. Degraded dewaxing aid, if any, is passed through the membrane along with the wax, oil or dewaxing solvent and is thus not recovered for recycle.
