Methods for diagnosing and monitoring systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) or scleroderma by determining, in a blood sample from the individual being diagnosed or monitored, complement component C4d deposited on surfaces of red blood cells in the sample, and optionally also determining complement receptor CR1 deposited on the red blood cell surfaces. For diagnosis this is compared with the quantity of C4d (and optionally CR1) present on red blood cells of normal individuals. For monitoring it is compared with a value in a sample or samples previously obtained from the individual patient.The comparison may be made with individual values for C4d and CR1 and/or with a ratio of the two found in normal individuals.
L'invention concerne des méthodes qui permettent de diagnostiquer et de contrôler le lupus érythémateux systématique (LES) ou la sclérodermie, par détermination, dans un prélèvement sanguin recueilli chez l'individu faisant l'objet du diagnostic ou du contrôle, du composant du complément C4d déposé sur des surfaces d'érythrocytes dans le prélèvement et, éventuellement, par détermination du récepteur du complément CR1 déposé sur des surfaces d'érythrocytes. Pour poser un diagnostic, une comparaison est effectuée avec la quantité de C4d (et éventuellement de CR1) présente sur des érythrocytes d'individus sains. Pour effectuer un contrôle, la comparaison porte sur une valeur du ou des prélèvement(s) antérieurement recueilli(s) chez le patient. Cette comparaison peut être faite avec des valeurs individuelles pour C4d et CR1 et/ou avec un rapport des deux éléments trouvés chez des individus sains.
