31 ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A morbillivirus, multiple sclerosis virus (MSV), is isolated from multiple sclerosis (MS) brain tissue. Antibodies which recognise or bind to MSV are used in diagnosis or treatment of MS. Serological diagnosis of MS comprises detection of circulating anti-MSV antibodies. Compositions and methods for producing an immune response against MS are also disclosed.
