The present invention relates generally to a method of diagnosing, predicting or monitoring the development or progress of advanced cancer and, in particular, to a method of diagnosing, predicting or monitoring the development of or progress of advanced prostate cancer in a mammal. The present invention contemplates a method for detecting advanced cancer, or predisposition to thereof, by screening for an increase in the level of inhibin expression in a mammal. The present invention further provides a method for diagnosing or monitoring conditions associated with or characterized by the onset of advanced cancer. Also provided are diagnostic agents useful for detecting inhibin or subunit thereof.
L'invention concerne un procédé servant à diagnostiquer, pronostiquer ou contrôler l'évolution d'un cancer avancé et, plus particulièrement, un procédé servant à diagnostiquer, pronostiquer ou contrôler l'évolution d'un cancer avancé de la prostate chez un mammifère. Elle concerne un procédé servant à détecter le cancer avancé ou la prédisposition à un cancer au moyen d'une recherche par criblage d'une augmentation du niveau de l'expression d'inhibine chez un mammifère. Elle concerne, de plus, un procédé servant à diagnostiquer ou à contrôler des états associés à l'apparition d'un cancer avancé. Elle concerne également des agents diagnostiques utiles pour détecter l'inhibine ou une unité secondaire de cette dernière.
