A b s t r a c t The invention concerns a method for the diagnosis of the occurrence or/and the course of bacterial infections, in particular of infections which are associated with an inflammation, which is characterized in that a body fluid is tested for the presence of at least two glycoconjugates, which have an isoelectric point in the range of pH 7 - 10, by means of a specific detection method for compounds containing carbohydrates, whereby a positive result in this test indicates a bacterial infection.
