Prion diseases, in which abnormal prions are implicated, are detected or measured by taking a blood sample from an animal or human and separating therefrom mononuclear cells. The abnormal prions are detected in the cell lysate or after isolating prion protein therefrom by any known technique, especially immunologically using antibodies to abnormal prion protein and enhanced chemiluminescent assay or immuno-PCR.

Pour déceler ou diagnostiquer des maladies à prions dans lesquelles des prions anormaux sont impliqués, un échantillon sanguin est prélévé chez un animal ou un humain et des cellules mononucléaires sont isolées dudit échantillon. Les prions anormaux sont décelés dans le lysat des cellules ou après isolation d'une protéine du prion dudit lysat par une quelconque technique connue, en particulier par des techniques immunologiques dans lesquelles on utilise des anticorps dirigés contre la protéine du prion anormal et un dosage chimiluminescent ou immuno-PCR amélioré.
